Why to and not to use Unity for your games

Did you know you can make your very own video game?
You could have your own video game or mobile game in about a week. But do not expect to get rich like a lot of sites claim you will. Yes there are some special cases, but for the most part developers rarely get downloads.

You can earn some extra money by making your own games. But if you want to get rich quick, this is not for you.  Unless you invest in costly advertising, most games and apps rarely get downloads,. You                                                  could have the best game in the world, but no downloads = no $. But if you want to do this for the fun of it its a great tool to  make games. And maybe you might just make some cash creating games.

Here are some games made with Unity.

Why should I use Unity3D?

1. Unity is Free .

1.B. There are plenty of Unity tutorials on YouTube and templates and assets , like characters or backgrounds at your disposal for free online.

2. Unity3d (Version 5.2) can build games for many different platforms like , Pc/ Mac/ Linux/ Android/ IOS/  Tizen/ Windows Store/ Windows Phone 8/ WebGL/ Samsung TV/ Blackberry/ Xbox 360/ Xbox One/ PS3/ PS Vita/ PS4

3. There are plenty of free resources and tutorials to get you started.

4. You can create both 2d or 3d games.

5. Unity allows you add advertisements to your game ( earn some extra change).

Why I should not use Unity3D.

It is not easy if you do not know a little c# programming.

Making games for specific platforms is not automatic. You must edit your code for your game to work on another platform for example with the controls.

You can make some extra money, but you wont get rich of of your game. Only about 8% of game developers hit it rich with their games (mostly because it can be costly to advertise).

Adding advertisements/ leaderboards/ analytics / facebook etc to your game can be tedious or costly.

Bottom Line:

Unity is Free. It takes a bit of dedication on your part.
There are a handful of tutorials and sample assets on the Unity3d web site. on the web to get you started.

If you get Unity + some assetsYouTube tutorials, you can have your very own complete game in just a week.
